Question(s) about MC clubs....

I just met a guy that is active in a MC club that has some history as one of the major "outlaw" clubs... seems like a nice guy, but I am somewhat wary of the history of MC clubs in general. He invited me their camp at an upcoming local rally. So the questions are:

- What, exactly, is a 1%er?
- Are the clubs still "outlaws" or has most of that calmed down?
- Any specific info on any specific clubs (Outlaws, Bandidos, Hells Angels, etc...) that I need to know....?

I figured WD, Hogryder, and INTRUDN must have some of this info, but any response would be much appreciated. Just e-mail if you want to keep it close hold.
